Here's a WALLCHART with all the results and tables from the World Cup. |
4th April 2010.
Firstly, a big thank you to all those that have taken part in our sweepstakes of the past.
So SOUTH AFRIKA 2010 is upon us and the draw has been made. Only 66 days, at time of writing, until the challenge for the most prestigious soccer trophy in the world – the “Jules Rimet”. SOUTH AFRIKA 2010 will start to hit the hearts of most homes up and down the country, especially with the likes of Wayne Rooney and co being there this time around and it only seems natural that I should get involved.
Regulars to, what some might call – “ Another Wrighty” scam! - will be familiar with what goes down in a World Cup sweepstake, but for the benefit of all others – here goes.
The best thing is that, since these sweepstakes first began, some sixteen years ago (wow), inflation has not affected the cost of the entrance fee. This sweepstake is no exception: -
The entry fee is unchanged, yet again, and remains the bargain price of £2:00 , yes, only £2 per entry – and there is no limitation to the number of entries per person and to who can or can't enter.
So please pass on to all your work colleagues and friends.
Don't be baffled by the amount of information supplied. Some of you may simply wish to complete the entry form, whereas on the other hand, I have supplied a complete matrix for the benefit of those who want to calculate the progression of their selected teams through the tournament.
Time permitting; I shall issue as many reports as possible up to and during the tournament. In the next issue, I shall include information such as World Cup Records and Key Players to look out for, followed, in a future report by “Who's Selected Who To Do What” .
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that continue to take part in the National Fantasy Football League ( www.nffl.co.uk ) , especially all the newcomers – please keep the buzz going by taking part.
Right then, now all that's out the way, let's kick off our SOUTH AFRIKA 2010 .
HOW DO YOU COMPLETE THE ENTRY FORM THEN?
The form is quite self-explanatory; however, I will help you along. Rather than completing the form from top to bottom, here is a simple step-by-step guide.
• Stage 1:- There are eight groups comprising four teams, with the top two from each group qualifying for the second round. All you have to do is select the two teams in each group that you think will qualify for the second round, and whether they will finish winners of the group or runners up. I.e. If you think that England will win Group C then enter England in the …First Place alongside Group C and if you've selected U.S.A. to be runners up then enter in …Second Place and so on throughout the groups.
• If you have chosen correctly you will score 5 points for a correct First Place and 4 points for a correct Second Place, as shown to the right hand side of the Entry Form. If you choose the two qualifiers, however, have them in the incorrect order, then you will be awarded 2 points per team (total; 4 points ), on the basis of predicting both qualifiers.
• NOTE: Don't try to be fancy and enter the same team as finishing First and Second Place in a particular Group, thinking they will finish somewhere in the top two – YES – it has happened before. YOUR FORM WILL BE VOID.
• Below you will find a “ Route to the Finals”, explaining who plays whom in the second round and so on.
• Stage 2:- From the teams you have selected in Stage 1 , along with the information in the “ Route to the Finals” , you will be able to calculate your SOUTH AFRIKA 2010 Winner, Runner Up and Losing Semi Finalists to earn you 10 points , 7 points and 5 points respectively. If you choose any number of the four semi-finalists, however, have them in the incorrect order, then you will be awarded 2 points per team (up to a total of; 8 points ), on the basis of predicting them to qualify this distance.
• Bonus points can be earned by selecting the Top Goal Scoring Country (5 pts) , Total number of Goals scored by England in the competition (5 pts) and England's Top Goal Scorer (3 pts) .
The Winner (Entrant scoring most points) shall receive 60% of the total pool collected. Second Place will collect 30% , Third Place 6% and Fourth Place 4% .
Please return Entry Forms A.S.A.P and no later than the opening game on 11 th June 2010
Remember:
Please pass this on to your family and friends – any person can have as many entries as they wish.
The more entries – the bigger the prize.
Best of luck, I look forward to receiving your entries.
